Do You Tip Your Reston Movers
The short answer to this question is it is something which is solely down to you. We know that the overall costs of moving can be quite expensive and when it comes to tipping your movers the cost does go up that little bit. You may wonder if you need to tip at all, that perhaps such things are covered in the overall bill you’ll pay, but in fact this type of thing is left up to the client. Any Reston moving company should tell you the same thing – it is at the client’s discretion to tip and decide on the amount to tip.
However, we would add that there are a number of factors to consider before you decide on how much to tip the movers, not least what type of move it is. If, for example, you are moving to another state then it is likely that the moving team that picks up your possessions will not be the same team that delivers and unloads them. This effectively means that you’ll tip two separate teams.
The over-riding factor to consider is whether or not you are completely happy with the service that you’ve received. Did the movers work efficiently, were there unnecessary delays, or were the team polite or unhelpful with you either when loading or unloading the truck? Were any items damaged carelessly during the journey and if so, were the movers co-operative with your enquiries?
If you are happy with how everything went, then what it comes down to is how much of a tip you want to give. When it comes to deciding this, you should take into account the difficulty or ease that the Reston moving company’s team had in loading their truck. Were there tricky stairs to negotiate or steps outside that needed to be dealt with. Often, moving the mountain of boxes is the easy part but that one, large, specialist item is the one that takes the longest time and greatest effort. Do you think the team worked well enough to be rewarded for it?
A professional moving team will always get the job done within time but bear in mind that there can be unforeseen circumstances that only succeed in delaying the whole process. Take into account whether the team were honestly endeavouring to complete the job on time or not.
Lastly, know that it’s not all about money. While it is always appreciated, sometimes a simple $20 bill and some refreshments is perfectly fine as a tip. It can be hard work lugging around boxes and furniture all day, and some hot cocoa on cold days or a cool drink in summer, perhaps with some sandwiches to compliment them too, is a very welcome thing.
Remember, however, it is at your discretion how much (if anything at all) you wish to tip your moving company. Reston movers will appreciate the cost you’re facing but bear in mind the efforts that they are making too in order to get the job done professionally, safely and on time.
