Packing Home Cinema for your Bethesda Movers
There are few things worse than finding that the home cinema system that you had spent thousands of dollars on building up has been damaged by your Bethesda movers in someway. Even the best Bethesda moving company will have a small percentage of accidental damage incidents on the job. Home cinemas may be something that everyone in the family can enjoy but there is always a certain amount of pride felt in having things just the way you want them and in pristine condition.
The fact of the matter is that there are so many components to a home cinema (big-screen plasma TV, speakers, surround sound system etc) that there is a high chance of damage to one or more of them unless sufficient care is taken when packing them. Your Bethesda movers will know what to do but if you’ve opted to pack your things yourself then there are a few things that you should be aware of before setting about the task.
Of course, the value of the home cinema system that you have will depend on the brand names and quality of parts of it. This matters little to you regarding its safe arrival at your new abode but it will matter when it comes to insurance. The important thing is that everything is packed properly so as to protect the contents as effectively as possible.
The most obvious question then is whether or not you have got the original boxes for each of the components. If you have then it will make the whole task easier, with Styrofoam pieces to slip onto corners and bases and a tightly-fitting box that is specifically designed to handle the item inside. However, if you haven’t then remember that the Bethesda movers that you have hired will almost certainly have boxes that will serve the purpose; so ask them before hand if they do.
Plasma TV
This is probably the most valuable part of the home cinema system, with some TVs running into the tens of thousands of dollars. Make sure that you take note of everything, from the power lead to the screws and mounting brackets that keep it on the wall. Place any small items into a small bag (eg: a sandwich bag) and label it clearly. Wrap the screen carefully with plenty of bubble-wrap and if possible reinforce the corners with cardboard. Place it inside its box (or an appropriately sized one) and pack around it paper or even rags or old cloth for extra protection. Never let it rest on its back or front, but always on its side.
Speaker System
All of the wiring that goes into the speakers and the speaker system should be carefully labelled and tied or taped to the principal part. For example, tape the wires from the speakers themselves to the speakers, and the power cable to the speaker units. Ensure that all of the parts are wrapped carefully then secure them in their boxes (or suitable one). Again, use old cloth, rags or paper to secure them more and then label the boxes properly so that your Bethesda movers know precisely what they are moving into the truck.
DVD
The DVD player should be carefully bubble-wrapped too since the damage that can be done with a simple knock is huge. Once again, tape together all of the cables and wiring that extend from the unit and secure them to the unit. Then place the unit, like the Plasma TV, into its box and pack around it with rags or paper. When the box is closed and taped shut, label it accurately.
There are any amount of mishaps that can occur, but if your home cinema is packed and insulated properly then it can make the journey to your new home safely. That, you’ll agree, is the way everyone wants it.
